Planetary Health Core Curriculum now endorsed for health students in Switzerland

In June and July 2026, the Swiss Health Conference (FKG/CSS) and the Joint Commission of Medical Schools (SMIFK/CIMS) have officially endorsed the Planetary Health Core Curriculum for 11 health study programmes in Switzerland. 

The curriculum aims to prepare health professionals to:

• recognise and act on the systemic links between environment, health, political, social and economic systems and promote co-benefits;
• advocate for health equity within planetary boundaries;
• actively contribute to the socio-ecological transformation; and
• co-create healthcare that respects the planet’s ecological limits and fosters resilience.
