What is Planetary health and why is it important?

What is Planetary Health?
Planetary Health examines how the planetary crises – climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution – affect human health. It is both a solutions-oriented scientific field and a social movement dedicated to advancing health equity within the planet’s ecological limits, ensuring a safe and just future for life for all on Earth.

About Planetary Health

Why is this important?
The climate crisis is the greatest threat to human health in this century. Planetary Health offers an urgent, integrated approach to protecting both people and the planet. Health professionals, in particular, have a unique responsibility – and opportunity – to safeguard health in the face of these challenges. This is why PHUSE is dedicated to embedding Planetary Health into health education across Switzerland. Learn more about our initiative here.
